Children are not the Church of tomorrow. They are a full part of the Church of today.

Sunday School

We have an active Sunday School. We meet in the hall during the main Mass on Sundays, with our theme taken from the Gospel of the day.
We try to maintain a balance between readings, craft-work and music, with action songs for the younger children.
At present the age range is from 3 to 9 but older children are always welcome.

Crèche facilities are available but we would ask that babies and toddlers are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

For children who prefer to stay in church during Mass, there is a Quiet Corner at the back with a selection of books and appropriate toys, but parents are responsible for the behaviour of their children while in church. That has recently had a ‘makeover’ by staff from our school.

Please note that our responsibility for unaccompanied children ends at the end of the service. Parents who do not come to church themselves must make arrangements for their child to be picked up after Mass.

Surestart and Twins Club
Surestart 'Stay and Play' meets on Thursday afternoons from 1 - 3pm.
Weymouth Twins Club meets on Friday mornings from 9.30am - noon.

Child Protection Policy

The members of St. Paul’s commit themselves to the nurturing, protection and safe-keeping of all, especially children and young people; and follow the Home Office code of practice ‘Safe from Harm’.

We have an advocate, Lesley Cheesman, whose photo and name is displayed for children to see, and her role fully explained to everyone concerned.

In addition, all Sunday school teachers, Youth Club helpers and anyone else who works with children during services or other activities hold CRB Enhanced Disclosure Certificates.

Vulnerable Adult Policy

Similar plans, care and a policy are in place for those working with vulnerable adults.
